Using knowledge gained during our first lecture and backed up by online tutorials (and some extra verbal guidance), i crafted my fruit bowl.

I created the main bowl image by using the torus shape and elongating it to form a bowl shape. I made the base of the bowl by using the cylinder shape and stretching it to fit the base to form the fruit bowl. I then added a wood grain texture for aesthetic effect.
I added fruit using the following ....
Apples - Using the torus shape I formed an enlarged donut shape, then adjusting the height and the width until the shape of an apple appeared. I made the stalk by using the spring and changing the colour to brown, then moved the spring until it fitted in the middle of the apple. I adjusted the texture of the apple by using images of apples I found online, then by cutting part of the picture and tiling it across a small canvas, and saving it as a bit-map I managed to change the texture of the apple.
Oranges - For the oranges I used the sphere shape and changed the texture in the same way I changed the texture of the apple.
Banana - I managed to create a banana by using an online tutorial, I first drew a curved line and a NGon and then by using the loft setting I created a basic shape of a banana. I then changed the scale of the banana to form a tip and an end, and create more of a curve. The texture of the banana has also been achieved using bit-maps.
Grapes - The grapes were probably the most challenging fruit to make as they are small, so it requires more patience to get them just in the right place. They were made by creating a sphere and elongating it to form a shape of a grape. I copied the grape and each time rotated it so that no two grapes look the same. The texture for the grapes was also achieved using bit-maps.
I placed the bowl on a base to add further aesthetics to the image (to prevent it from floating in mid air). The base is a simple box shape which has been made flat, with added checkered texture.
Finally I added some lighting which consisted of a skylight setting with the shadow effect.
I enjoyed using 3D Studio Max and look forward to learning more about it and developing my skills.
